The Funeral Consumers Alliance of the Finger Lakes, Inc. (FCAFL) is an all-volunteer, nonprofit, service organization that provides the public with unbiased information about funeral planning, practices, and costs. The Alliance, based in Ithaca, serves the Southern Finger Lakes Region of New York State.

Did you know that the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) Funeral Rule requires funeral homes to provide consumers accurate price information about the services they offer over the phone? The FTC recently conducted an undercover sweep, calling funeral homes across the country, asking about prices. Of the sample called (250), 39 failed to provide the requested information.
